What we do?
For over 20 years we have helped many individuals and organisations with fundings for various projects which include, youth initiatives, educational, sporting and adult groups.
Since 2018 The Dublin Maccabi Association has become very proactive working with integrating with the wider Irish Jewish community.
This has resulted with very successful activities which include courses in the art of Krav Maga, weekend trips to Lough Dan, courses in ten pin bowling.
The establishment of the Men’s Meeting Club at the beginning of 2019 has been a huge success with a Ladies Meeting Club also starting from mid November 2019
Our Mission
To award educational, sporting, cultural, artistic, grants, and bursaries to those of the Jewish faith who are Irish citizens. Also to provide assistance to the youth, elderly and the retired.
Our History
Founded as the Carlisle Cricket Club in 1908, then changed the name to Carlisle Athletic Union before becoming the Dublin Maccabi Association in 1942.
In 1954 the Club opened a new state of the art sports ground at Kimmage Road West, Dublin 12. At the time it was said that the ground was ‘only equaled around Dublin by Croke Park, Lansdowne Park, Belfield and College Park.
The Club consisted of a Clubhouse, Multi Purpose Hall, Kitchens, Lounge, Men’s and Ladies Changing Rooms, Caretakers Bungalow, Roof Space as a viewing area.
The Sports Section catered for various sports including, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Rugby, Boxing, Wrestling and Table Tennis.
The grounds were in use until 1998.
After The Dublin Maccabi Association closed in 1998, The Dublin Maccabi Association Trust was established.
“Dublin Maccabi is a Jewish organisation which seeks to advance the religion by engaging all sections of the Community in activities which combine the opportunity to participate in sport with informal education on the Jewish religion, history and culture and the opportunity to engage in the practice of the Jewish religion.”
